How do you choose the right derailleur wheels for your bike?

Looking for the right derailleur pulleys for your bike? This handy guide gives you an overview of our high-quality derailleur pulleys that provide a smoother and more efficient drivetrain.

To determine the appropriate type of derailleur wheels for your bike, simply check some data and set it as a filter in our shop.

Step 1: Determine the brand of your derailleur

The first step in finding the right derailleur wheels is to determine the brand of your derailleur. We carry Shimano and SRAM compatible derailleur wheels. Each brand offers unique benefits and compatibility requirements.

Shimano

Shimano is a popular choice for road bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes alike. Shimano derailleurs are known for their durability, accurate shifting and wide compatibility. They are available in several groups, including Dura-Ace, Ultegra, and 105 for road bikes, XT and XTR for mountain bikes, and GRX for gravel bikes.

SRAM

SRAM derailleurs are known for their lightweight designs, fast shifting, and advanced technology such as “eTap” wireless shifting. SRAM groupsets such as RED, Force, Rival AXS, XX, X01, and GX are often chosen by both professional and recreational riders.

Step 2: Count the number of gears

Derailleurs are matched to specific gear systems, such as 9-, 10-, 11- or 12-speed. You can easily determine this by counting the number of sprockets on the cassette. In addition, chain thickness and spacing vary by system. When choosing derailleur wheels, it is therefore essential to consider the number of gears on your derailleur, as these factors affect compatibility.

Step 3: Personalize your choice

Several of our derailleur wheels are suitable for some systems. You can personalize these to your liking by choosing from various options, such as wheel material, color and bearing type.

Material

There is a choice of aluminum or plastic material for some systems, each with unique advantages. Plastic casters are lightweight and ideal for those looking to save weight, while aluminum casters are stiffer and have a stylish look.

Bearing selection

All of our derailleur wheels are available with three different bearing types, each with their unique advantages.

Stainless steel (stainless steel) bearing: Reliable, durable and resistant to corrosion, ideal for daily use and a variety of weather conditions.

Ceramic bearings: Reliable, durable and resistant to corrosion.

Lighter and smoother than stainless steel, less friction for better performance, perfect for sporty riders.

Full-core ceramic bearings: Reliable, durable and impervious to corrosion. Maximum efficiency and durability, designed for the ultimate performance cyclist who wants only the best.
